What is an oil drainer? An oil drainer is used to collect excess oil from a vehicle, typically from the engine or gearbox. They can take the form of an oil drain pan for storing oil manually, or an extractor machine that uses suction to remove oil via a pump.

Can I drain my own car oil?

Yes, an oil drain pan is a great way to collect oil as you release it from the vehicle's drain plug. We supply drain pans that are constructed from dense material such as polyethylene, which keeps the drain pan in top condition even when exposed to hot oil.

How much oil can a drain pan hold?

There are a large number of drain pans you can buy with varying volumes, ranging from 6 litres all the way up to 17 litres. If you intend to drain a significant amount of oil from your car, a larger drain pan will be more suitable.

\ Can you change oil without removing the drain plug?

Yes, this is where an extractor comes in. If you would prefer to drain your car's oil without adjusting the drain plug, you can use an extractor to remove oil via the dipstick.

Why is my oil not draining?

If your car's oil is taking a long time to drain, or isn't draining at all, sludge sediment might have built up over time and is preventing the oil from coming out effectively. This can be remedied by removing the drain plug and creating a larger passageway for the oil to drain through, or with some fuel additive to help clear the blockage.
