Aftermarket Leaf Spring
Leaf springs are normally found on light commercial vehicles but are also fitted to pick-ups and some MPV's. They maintain vehicle ride height and absorb bumps in the road. They are normally fitted to the rear suspension but can also be found on the front on some vehicles.
They are an assembly of long flat sections of spring steel called leafs and are designed to take heavy loads. Some leaf springs can be as big as seven layers. Common leaf springs consist of 3 layers of leaf spring which are curved and 1 helper spring which is flat. This is known as 3+1. Normally you need to know the build of your leaf spring before purchase as some variations do exist.
